Daugherty of Pocahontas County, WV
I recently met with a woman who is a distant cousin on my Payne/Haynes side. Her greatgrandfather, James Haynes was the brother of my greatgrandmother, Elizabeth Jane Payne Haynes Haynes Lewis. James and Elizabeth were the children of Martha Ann Payne Haynes Jones (James was the son of Solomon Haynes). Another one of her lines is the Daugherty line of PC. The family pronounces the name "Dow-ter-ree".

Carol, I am researching my own family. I am a part of the Daugherty family. Although my last name is not "Daugherty" but my dad's side is. There are some Daughertys left in Pocahontas Co. I don't know much about that side of the family. I will send an email to the one you have listed here. Thanks for sharing your blog.
This may be a long shot. Also looking for Daugherty, as well as Church surnames from Marlinton, Pocahontas County, West Virginia.
